The project

At Sopro we have an exciting new 3-month project opportunity within our Data Science Team.

The goal of this project is to generate a hierarchical job title/role taxonomy and normalise and group job titles in order to categorise them according to a specified taxonomy.

As a company, we have accumulated a database of records for all the specific roles people across various companies and industries hold, to inform future marketing campaigns. Targeting the right audience is vital for a campaign to be successful and it is therefore important that we can build a hierarchy of normalised job titles in order to categorise the specific roles and classify whether they are decision makers within their organisations.

During this project you will have access to Sopro database that holds millions of records containing unique job titles and roles within different industries and departments.

Key responsibilities
  • working individually on a project as a part of our growing Data Science team, collaborating closely with software developers, data engineers, data scientists and product owners, utilising cutting edge technologies and methods.
  • applying NLP and ML methods to textual data and taking part in the internal process of product development.
  • working with large databases.
  • working with and cleaning of text documents programmatically.
  • conducting research and giving suggestions on the specific approach to be taken with the project involving ML, NLP and NER.
Requirements
  • Strong skills in Python (or other relevant programming language).
  • Experience in working with and cleaning of text documents.
  • Experience in working with ML, NLP and NER.
  • Prior experience with mySQL/SQL/MariaDB will be considered as a plus but will be also gained alongside the project.
