The role

By opening this new role – Data Operations Manager – we are introducing a new sub-department within Group Operations that will be focused on improving the communication, integration and automation of data flows between the data engineering teams and the data consumers across the organization.

As a Data Operations Manager, you will have a unique opportunity to set up, lead and develop the Data Operations team. The key challenge of your role would be to make sure that organization’s data quality standards are achieved through a series of regular data standardization and maintenance activities and enacting an overall data enrichment and data quality strategy. The main goal of the data operations teams will be to quickly deliver business value from data.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop rules/algorithms to match the needs of the business (data consumers), guaranteeing that data is regularly cleansed and standardized by cooperating with the data engineering, product and data consumers teams and the internal stakeholders
  • Set up, manage and enforce data quality standards and report performance against approved standards
  • Set up data quality principles such as Completeness, Clarity, Correctness i.e. accuracy, Timeliness and Relevance and measure them.
  • Set up a process for analyzing and identifying the source of the data quality issues for further measures with the corresponding teams
  • Actively engage in email analysis and data enrichment for improving the database.
  • Develop a data quality strategy that aligns with an organization’s goals and objectives
  • Review operational performance of the data, assess risk and opportunities, and implement operational improvements
  • Conduct research to identify trends in data quality issues in order to develop solutions for potential problems
  • Identify, plan and deliver Data Operation team led projects and work packages, ensuring project briefs are agreed and deadlines and success criteria met.

Team Management

  • Set up, lead and develop the Data Operations team ensuring that the team works at pace with the rest of the data unit, where outcomes are measured and regularly reported, tasks are clearly identified, responsibilities assigned, and policies and procedures effectively developed and periodically reviewed.
  • Ensure that the data operations team delivers excellent performance in terms of service provision, responsiveness; and overall timeliness and quality of delivered results
  • Develop team member to full competence through staggered and supported introduction to their roles and responsibilities
  • Extensive experience in managing and standardizing data and setting up data quality standards preferably used for email prospecting
  • Previous experience in setting up KPIs for measurement of data quality
  • Proven ability to deliver data projects and work in an agile environment, collaborating with different teams to plan and lead projects to completion
  • Strong attention to detail and an analytical mind
  • Highly numerate, able to write operational reports that clearly outline a company’s data performance and risk
  • Experience in managing and developing a team (a plus)
